Dr. Brendan C. Stack, Jr., M.D., FACS, FACE was born in New Orleans, LA and raised in McLean, VA. Dr. Stack left home to attend Brigham Young University on a Dean’s Scholarship, resulting from his science fair activities, where he studied for two years and was accepted to medical school without a bachelor’s degree. Dr. Stack was trained in Surgery for two years and then Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery for four years at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida. Dr. Stack completed a Fellowship in Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstruction accredited by the Joint Council for Approval of Advanced training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery in 1997 at the University of Washington, Seattle. Dr. Stack has served on the faculty of the schools of medicine at the University of Washington, St. Louis University, and Penn State. Since July of 2005, Dr. Stack has served as Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. At UAMS, Dr. Stack directs the divisions of head and neck oncology and clinical research. Dr. Stack holds the James Y. Suen, MD endowed chair in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Stack has authored over 100 chapters, peer-reviewed papers, and internet articles. He has presented at over 150 meetings regionally, nationally, and internationally. He collaborates on grants from the NIH, NSF and other public and private organizations. He serves on the editorial boards of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Head and Neck and ENT journal. Dr. Stack reviews for several journals including Head and Neck, Thyroid, and Laryngoscope. He has served on review panels for the National Institutes of Health. His research interests include early detection of head and neck cancer with proteomics, imaging of sub-clinical disease with positron emission tomography, outcomes and medical economics research related to head, neck, and thyroid cancer, and medical device development in the areas of radioguided surgery and free tissue transfer perfusion monitoring. Dr. Stack’s clinical interests include endocrine surgery for the head and neck, head and neck oncology, microvascular reconstruction of the head and neck, skull base surgery, vascular anomalies, and craniomaxillofacial trauma. Recent honors include being listed in "Best Doctors" of America, "Guide to America's Top Surgeons" and "Top Thyroid Doctors".
